Founded in 1951 by Charles & Ruth Schauffele as a one-room school over Pythian Hall in Saugus, North Shore Church School has grown to three campuses in Hamilton, Lynn, and Wenham. The Schauffeles, and other early founders, envisioned a quality neighborhood school where Christian values would be the lens through which all learning was viewed.
What started with only 12 students, today has grown to over 305 students in grades preschool through 8 who represent a vibrant community of diverse races, ethnicities, and denominations. The Lynn campus now sits on a 3.7 acre hilltop in a well-established neighborhood just outside Wyoma Square in Lynn. The school’s vision is that of a tree branching out with roots securely planted in God’s truth.
In 2010, North Shore Christian School merged with Beacon Christian Academy in Beverly. With both schools’ shared focus and devotion to Christ-centered education, the merger produced one school with combined resources to serve new North Shore communities. Each campus is unique but is nourished by the same core values and mission.
North Shore Christian School continues to expand its programming to include a collaborative partnership with home-school families to provide flexible learning opportunities across all subject areas.
In 2018, North Shore Christian School opened a third campus in Hamilton, MA on the grounds of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. This campus is a dedicated Early Childhood program.
In 2024, North Shore Christian School moved the Beverly campus to Wenham, MA on the grounds of Gordon College.
With each chapter of our history, the school remains committed to meeting the changing needs of students in age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate ways.
